On Thursday, January 18, 24 Bremen High School students competed in the District 2 Deca Competition. 18 Bremen students have now qualified to compete at the DECA State Career Development Conference in Indianapolis March 3-5.
Students first competed by taking a 100 question exam in the area of Marketing, Finance, Hospitality & Tourism, Entrepreneurship or Business Administration. Students then compete (either with a partner or individually) at the District level (through role play scenarios).
DECA begins in the classroom. Students learn business concepts in preparation for college and careers. DECA "brings the classroom to life by empowering the teacher-advisor to make learning relevant with educational programs that integrate into classroom instruction, apply learning, connect to business and promote competition."
The Mission of DECA is to prepare emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges around the globe.
