Help Stop the Surge
The amount of positive COVID-19 cases in Marshall County increased by 20% within a seven- day period as reported from ISDH. This positivity rate has pushed Marshall County into the red advisory level.
Why is this happening?
It is unclear if the increase in cases is a result of increased testing or if the county is seeing a rise in cases following onset of the holiday travel season and events. What is clear, though, is that both possibilities are contributing to the increase, and no one measurement gives an exact answer.
What should you do?
• Practice social distancing.
• Cover your face when you are in public.
• Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
• Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer of 60% or higher if unable to wash up.
• Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
• Stay home when possible.
• Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
• Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
What you should know
Your actions affect others. Everyone needs to be personally responsible and flexible in the way they go about daily life. Please remember these are preventative measures and following best practices will help slow the spread and allow restrictions to be rescinded. There will be no victory over the coronavirus pandemic without a sustained, documented decline in the number of new cases.
We will continue to provide updates as changes occur. Please follow the Indiana State Department of Health’s
website at www.isdh.in.gov/coronavirus for up-to-date information on COVID-19.
