On Friday, October 10th, we invite everyone to wear green in support of World Mental Health Day. Green is the color of mental health awareness, symbolizing hope, strength, and support for those who may be struggling.

Let’s come together as a community to show that mental health matters. A small gesture—like wearing green—can start important conversations and help break the stigma.

Teens! The BGC Teen Center is excited for a Spooktacular month! Join us in October for fun Fall activities and our Special Event. See flyers for more information.

We are starting something new! Do you want hangout with friends, play games, and relax but don't have time afterschool? Thats okay! With our new Teen Special Program, Teens in 7th and 8th grade that are 12 turning 13 this calendar year or older along with High School students can join club during their lunch period on specific dates decided by staff and join us for our Monthly Special Events! All you have to do is stop by club to pick up an application and turn it back into us! The Teen Center is open from 12:00 - 6:00 p.m. Monday - Friday in room 17. This new program is free until January 2026, then members must pay a $10.00 annual fee to attend. This program does not include our Afterschool Program. Meet Madyson Shumaker, one of our new 4th Grade Teacher!

Madyson is a proud Bremen graduate, Class of 2021. She went on to earn her degree in Elementary Education with a focus in Early Childhood from Indiana University South Bend in May 2025. While completing her degree, she gained valuable experience working in a preschool for two years.

Madyson and her family have deep roots in Bremen—she and her three siblings have all attended Bremen schools. Her younger sister is currently a senior at Bremen High School, and her older brother teaches 6th grade here as well!

Outside of the classroom, Madyson loves to bake, travel, and spend time with family and friends. She is most excited about returning to Bremen Schools to help students learn, grow, and thrive.

We are so excited to have Madyson on our team—welcome back to Bremen!

Ms. Browning and her Organic Chemistry students took their learning outside the classroom and into Carmen’s Restaurant for a special Breakfast Organic Chemistry Field Trip! Students explored the science behind their breakfast—identifying major organic compounds, functional groups, and the chemistry behind flavors and aromas. From the esters that give fruit its sweet aroma, to the Maillard reaction that makes bacon and toast irresistible, they got to see how chemistry literally flavors our world. Hands-on learning never tasted so good! A huge shout out to Carmen’s for welcoming us!

🎓✨ College GO! Week was such a success! ✨🎓

We had a blast celebrating college spirit all week long. It was so much fun seeing everyone participate, show off their college gear, and join in on the activities. We loved handing out lots of prizes and sweet treats—it made the week even more exciting! 🍎🎁🍬

The Distinguished Young Women program is proud to announce its 2026 Showcase on November 15th in the Bowen Auditorium. DYW is the longest-running scholarship program for Senior Girls in the United States. DYW Participants compete in Scholastics, Talent, Fitness, Interview, and an On Stage Question all while showcasing each girl's unique and beautiful qualities and promoting their holistic self. Alumni Achievement: Sarai Cruz ('13) is a Bremen graduate, resident, and boutique owner. In her words: "I’m Sarai Jimenez (nee Cruz), a 35-year-old dreamer, married to my favorite guy Javier Jimenez (also from Bremen) raising our 3 babies here. Javi and I are so happy we decided to stay here and plant our own roots as we started to grow our family and business in Bremen. Which leads me into my newest venture, Olive & Co. Olive & Co started as a creative outlet for me, and it’s quickly turned into greater things. Through this process, God has shown me that I can use this opportunity to give back to my community— and this has become the root of all we do at Olive & Co. This journey, so far, has been nothing short of a challenge. But I have learned so much and love the connections I have made and maintained with people. It’s been pretty surreal to now have all of our kids walking the hallways we once walked, and still seeing some of the teachers who taught us, teach them. We wouldn’t have it any other way."
